Editorial policy

Local Stage Journal aims for clear, useful writing about live performance and its settings. We distinguish explanation from opinion, avoid implying that we have tested or witnessed something when we have not, and make our editorial choices visible to readers.

Accuracy and context

We check statements against the information available to us and write with care about what a general reader can safely act on. We do not invent sources, experience or evidence. When an article discusses a practice or tradition, we make its limits clear rather than presenting one example as universal.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial decisions are kept distinct from commercial arrangements. Paid or otherwise supported material is clearly labelled so readers can tell when a placement is not ordinary editorial coverage. Partnerships do not guarantee favourable coverage, and we do not disguise promotional content as an independent article.

Corrections and illustrations

If a factual error is identified, we review it and correct the article where appropriate; readers can report concerns through the Contact page. Some illustrations may be AI-generated. Where an image is AI-generated, we identify it as such and do not present it as documentary evidence.
